Off the Wall to On the Ball:
A Dynamic Approach to Attention Deficit and Hyperactivity Disorders

( 3 CE Contact Hours )

Presenter: Stephanie Jackman, LCSW, MS

Join Stephanie Jackman, LCSW; MS as we revisit the multifaceted dynamics of ADD and ADHD. Participants will review changes within diagnostic criteria in the DSM-IV versus DSM-V and examine the nature and theories surrounding potential origin of ADHD/ADD. This interactive course will also address underlying disturbance to executive functioning with ADD/ADHD as well as assessment tools for diagnosis and overview of options regarding therapeutic modalities for practitioners to consider in offering effective support and treatment for clients and families. Clinicians will also explore ethical aspects and best practices when serving as a resource for teachers and other professionals interacting with youth and students.

Stephanie Jackman, LCSW, MS is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with over 15 years of experience in children and family services and mental health. She completed her baccalaureate degree in Sociology at the State University of New York College at Buffalo. She went on to earn a Master of Social Work degree from Roberts Wesleyan College. Furthering her education and knowledge base, she earned an additional Master of Human Development degree from the University of Rochester.
Stephanie is a native of Rochester, New York where she currently is in Private Practice and serves as a Mental Health Consultant providing consultation, program development and implementation trainings to local and federal government agencies, educational institutions, faith-based organizations and human service agencies.
She is an avid supporter of up and coming social work professionals and mental health practitioners; providing mentoring and sponsorship. She desires to empower individuals and families to cope with life stressors through a mental, physical and spiritual system of care.

“Traumanomics”: Healing the Impact of Trauma on Money and Work

( 3 CE Contact Hours)

Presenters: Nora Simpson and Diana File, MA

Nora Simpson and Diana File, MA examine the often overlooked impact of trauma and dissociation on client economic empowerment. Participants will gain heightened insight surrounding the ways trauma and hyperarousal lead to patterns of financial crisis, decode signals of underlying trauma in client behavior patterns around finances, work, and other adult responsibilities. Tools for helping clients recognize and address the economic impact of trauma as well as assisting clients in developing new skill sets for growth will also be studied.

Where to Begin?: Tools for Understanding and Addressing Suicidal Ideation

( 3 CE Contact Hours )

Presenter: Alexis Cate, LCSW

Join Alexis Cate, LCSW as we examine the social and cultural risk factors associated with suicidal ideation. Participants will review evidence based assessment and intervention techniques, and approaches for building trust, rapport, and therapeutic alliance with clients when concern about suicidal ideation is present. Practitioners will also gain perspective surrounding short term and long term modalities for suicide prevention.

Alexis Cate, LCSW is currently a Clinical Social Worker with the Project Rising Program in the Division of Substance Abuse of Montefiore Medical Center in the Bronx, NY and provides direct clinical care to adolescents and young adults (ages 14-24) combatting comorbid substance use and mental health disorders.
She completed her bachelor’s degree in psychology at Wagner College and went on to earn her Master of Social Work Degree from the Silberman School of Social Work at Hunter College. Alexis has been working in New York City throughout her career across all age groups treating a variety of psychosocial concerns including: depression, anxiety, mood dysregulation, substance abuse, complex trauma, pervasive mental health disorders, suicidality, self-harm, community violence, and domestic/family violence.
A highly motivated self-starter, Alexis has a strong desire to empower the individuals and families with whom she works. She believes in the importance of holistic health, highlighting the mind-body connection, the practice of mindfulness, and enhancing clinical care by comprehensively understanding each clients needs within and outside the therapeutic experience.
