Welcome Renee Jacobs, M.S.W., L.C.S.W., C.R.S., Certified Rubenfeld Synergist, as we delve into the truth and wisdom derived through “Bodymind” informed talk therapy. Participants will enjoy an overview of the Rubenfeld Synergy method, a deeper understanding of how applying a Synergy approach can add effectiveness to work within the client session, and tools for promoting skills to help clients build and maintain awareness of the body’s messages.

Renee Jacobs is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and certified Rubenfeld Synergist. Her experience includes practice working with families, couples, and adults individually for more than thirty-five years. In 1997 she attended a workshop where Ilana Rubenfeld demonstrated her body-centered technique called Rubenfeld Synergy Method® (RSM). Watching her work, Renee knew she wanted to learn this way of working with people.

After graduating from a four-year training program in 2002, she has incorporated RSM into her practice. She explains to clients that for many, it is the express lane to resolving hurtful experiences stored from the past and to a new sense of self-worth that leads to behavioral changes. Other modalities that Renee uses in her practice include Family Systems, Gestalt theory, Ericksonian hypnosis and Cognitive Behavioral Modification principles as appropriate. Issues addressed include depression, anxiety, obsessive-compulsive behavior, abusive and/or conflicted relationships, parenting concerns, lack of confidence or direction, and chronic pain.

In addition to her psychotherapy practice, she and her husband (psychiatrist Dale Jacobs, M.D.) co-authored two books: Zip Your Lips: A Parent’s Guide to Brief and Effective Communication, Element Books, Boston, 1999; Parenting When Your Child Is an Adult, Vega, UK, 2002. Renee was the ghost writer for a memoir From Auschwitz to Zabar’s: A True Tale of Terror and Celebration, told by Renee Feller, a multiple trauma survivor.
Since 1979 Renee has presented workshops and presentations on a variety of topics to schools and community organizations and has created a series of workshops for parents. She also owned a holistically oriented center, Diviana, for ten years which included a gift and book store, poetr readings, yoga and pilates classes, and a range of workshops.
